Warriors Unleashed Adaptive Ninja competition is open to all athletes who have been diagnosed with a cognitive, functional, or developmental delay or challenge.
At this time, we are not able to accommodate those athletes who are fully confined to a wheelchair or who need specific sensory adaptations such as dimmed lights or complete quiet (although headphones WILL be allowed on the course if needed). We ARE currently working on designing courses to accommodate these athletes and we hope to present them in the near future!
Athletes wanting to compete in Warriors Unleashed Adaptive Ninja will complete a Skills Sheet and fill out a Registration Packet (Athlete Registration, Scoring Sheet, and Participant Waiver). The information from the Skills Sheet will be used to assign the athlete to one of 5 competition levels based on their current skills and ability level. The athlete will compete on his/her designated course and will be scored according to the timing and scoring system for their level. Consistent with traditional Ninja competitions, we emphasize and celebrate individual achievement on the course with cheers, high-fives, and congratulations.
The Adaptive Skills Sheet is designed to help us place our athletes at the best course level for them, and tests the athlete's current abilities on common Ninja obstacles. This sheet must be submitted along with your registration packet at least one month prior to the start of the competition. The Skills Sheet must be signed off by a Ninja coach or trainer; athletes over the age of 18 may self-certify.
Warriors Unleashed Adaptive will feature up to 5 levels of course difficulty. Each course will be unique in the obstacles used, timing and scoring structure, and allowance for assistance. Specifics about the course, its timing, and scoring will be provided closer to the date of competition.
We recognize that many of our athletes may require additional assistance both on and off the course. Coaches at the host gym will be able to provide verbal assistance ONLY. Any physical assistance that is needed on or off the course must be provided by the athlete in the form of an aide, family member, or personal coach. All course aides must submit a completed Participant Waiver Form and abide by the Code of Conduct.
Warriors Unleashed holds its gyms, staff, and athletes to the highest standards of conduct and competition. All athletes who register are expected to abide by the Warriors Unleashed Athlete Code of Conduct. Click below to view or download these guidelines.
We know that there will be many questions as we get this program up and going. Please contact nic@warriors-unleashed.com with any inquiries or for more information about Adaptive Ninja.
